A Mexican street-food favorite, carne asada is made by quickly grilling marinated beef tenderloin and slicing it thinly. Wrapping it in lettuce instead of a traditional tortilla lowers the carbohydrate content and adds a crisp texture.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Marinate

30 min

Rub the beef tenderloin with lemon juice, crushed garlic, cumin, olive oil, and salt. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

2

Grill

12 min

Grill the marinated tenderloin for 12 minutes on each side, until it reaches the desired doneness.

3

Slice and Wrap

5 min

Thinly slice the cooked tenderloin and place it on the lettuce leaves. Sprinkle with fresh cilantro and serve.

Reminder

Let the meat come to room temperature before grilling so it cooks evenly; meat taken straight from the refrigerator may burn on the outside while staying raw inside.
