This classic English tea-service sandwich is made with whole-wheat bread, smoked salmon, lemon cream cheese, and thin cucumber ribbons. With omega-3 fats and fiber, it is a light, heart-friendly option.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Make the cream cheese spread

8 min

Mix the cream cheese with the finely chopped fresh dill, lemon juice, and black pepper until smooth.

2

Prepare the cucumber

7 min

Use a vegetable peeler to shave the cucumber into long, thin ribbons, then blot away excess moisture with a paper towel.

3

Assemble the Sandwiches

12 min

Spread the cream cheese mixture on each slice of whole-wheat bread. Top with smoked salmon, cucumber ribbons, and garden cress.

4

Trim and arrange

8 min

Cut off the crusts, cut each sandwich diagonally into 2 triangles, and arrange on a serving plate.

Reminder

After assembling the sandwiches, cover them with plastic wrap and refrigerate until serving, or the edges of the bread may dry out and harden. Use a sharp knife to trim the crusts; a dull knife may crush and scatter the filling. Allergen: contains wheat (gluten), dairy (cream cheese), and fish (salmon).
