Cut the pumpkin

A single-ingredient pumpkin puree babies love for its sweet, soft texture. This sugar-free puree, rich in vitamin A, is a nutritious solid food that can be safely offered from the sixth month onward.
Clean the pumpkin, removing the skin and seeds, and cut into small cubes.
Steam the pumpkin cubes, or cook with a little water, for about fifteen minutes until soft enough to mash easily with a fork.
Mash the cooked pumpkin with a fork or puree it in a blender. Adjust the consistency to suit your baby's stage by adding warm boiled water, and serve warm.
Important: Do not use salt or sugar in baby food; the pumpkin's natural sweetness is enough. When introducing a new food, follow the three-day rule and watch for signs of allergy. Consult your pediatrician about your baby's diet. Store the puree in a covered container in the fridge for no more than twenty-four hours.
Steaming the pumpkin preserves its flavor and nutrients better than boiling it in water. You can pour the leftover puree into an ice tray and freeze it in single portions.
