This puree is made by pressure-cooking pumpkin and apple until soft, then blending them with cinnamon to a smooth texture — a favourite weaning food for babies and young children. It contains no dairy and can be frozen in portions for months.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the pumpkin and apple

10 min

Peel the pumpkin and cut it into cubes, then peel the apples and slice them thinly.

2

Pressure-cook

10 min

Put the cubed pumpkin and sliced apples in the pressure cooker with a cup of water and the cinnamon, and cook for 10 minutes once it comes to pressure.

3

Release the pressure

10 min

Let the pressure drop naturally and leave the pot closed to rest for 10 minutes before opening the lid.

4

Blend until smooth

5 min

Blend the cooked pumpkin and apple, adding a little of the strained cooking water, until you get a smooth texture.

Reminder

Important: serve the puree to your baby while it's warm, and when introducing it for the first time, start with a small spoonful and watch for any allergic reaction.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

Pour the puree into ice cube trays and freeze; once solid, transfer the cubes to a bag so you can easily portion out and reheat just what you need.

Düdüklüde 10 dakika değil 13 dakika pişirdim, balkabağı fazlasıyla yumuşayınca ezmek çok kolay oldu; elmaları da biraz daha küçük doğradım, bebeğim ilk seferde kabı bitirdi.
