Inspired by Morocco's gentle use of spice, this baby purée is made by steaming pumpkin and lightly seasoning it with a pinch of cumin before blending until smooth. The small amount of spice gently introduces babies to a new flavour.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the pumpkin

10 min

Peel the pumpkin and cut it into small cubes.

2

Steam

15 min

Steam the pumpkin cubes with the water in a covered pot for 15 minutes, until soft.

3

Let it cool

5 min

Transfer the cooked pumpkin to a bowl and let it cool for a few minutes.

4

Blend

10 min

Blend the cooled pumpkin with the cumin and olive oil until smooth.

Reminder

Use very little cumin, no more than a pinch; babies' palates are far more sensitive to spice.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

Using sweet potato instead of pumpkin gives a similar sweetness and texture; mixing the two half and half also works nicely.

Balkabağını tarifte belirtilen 15 dakika buharda pişirdim ama benim tencerem yavaş ısıtıyor, tam yumuşamadı ve blenderden geçerken pürüzlü kaldı. Bir dahaki sefere süreyi biraz uzatacağım.
