One of the first grain meals given to babies in Russia, grechnevaya kasha is made quickly by cooking ground buckwheat flour with milk. Buckwheat's iron content makes it a useful early addition to a baby's diet.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Mix the batter

2 min

Stir the buckwheat flour into the cold water until it forms a smooth, lump-free mixture.

2

Cook with milk

6 min

Heat the milk on the stove, stir in the buckwheat mixture and cook for 6 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened.

3

Cool and serve

2 min

Let the porridge cool for a few minutes to a lukewarm temperature that won't burn the baby's mouth, then serve.

Reminder

Keep stirring the porridge after taking it off the heat, or it can clump at the bottom of the pot. Allergens: contains milk and dairy.
