Onigiri, one of the easiest kids' recipes in Japanese cuisine, is made by shaping cooked rice into triangles by hand and filling it with a tuna mixture. Wrapped in a strip of nori, it is easy to hold and a practical snack for feeding a crowd.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Cook the rice

20 min

Rinse the rice, put it in a pot with the water and salt, and once it boils, cook covered over low heat for 20 minutes.

2

Let the rice cool

10 min

Let the cooked rice sit for 10 minutes, until it is cool enough to handle.

3

Make the filling

5 min

Mix the drained tuna with the mayonnaise.

4

Shape the onigiri

10 min

With wet hands, flatten a handful of rice, place a spoonful of the tuna filling in the centre, close it into a triangle, sprinkle with sesame and wrap with a strip of nori.

Reminder

Let the rice cool enough that it will not burn your hands before shaping; hot rice both burns and refuses to hold its shape. Allergens: contains egg (in the mayonnaise), fish (tuna) and sesame.

Çocuklarla üçgen şekil verirken çok eğlendik, 4 kişilik pirinç tam yetti, ton balığı yerine somon konservesiyle de deneyeceğiz.
