Rissoles are an old English street food made by coating spiced minced meat in whole grain breadcrumbs and pan-frying it. The crumb coating both adds crunch and helps the patty hold its shape.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Prepare the mixture

10 min

Knead the ground beef with the finely chopped onion, black pepper and one of the eggs until well combined.

2

Shape the patties

8 min

Shape the mixture into flat oval patties.

3

Coat

7 min

Dip the patties in the remaining egg and coat them twice in the whole grain breadcrumbs.

4

Fry

15 min

Fry the patties in hot vegetable oil for 7-8 minutes until golden on both sides and cooked through.

Reminder

Coat the patties in breadcrumbs twice before frying; a single coat leaves bare patches that let the filling leak out while frying. Allergens: contains wheat (gluten) and egg.
