Make the batter
10 minWhisk the whole wheat flour, milk, eggs and salt until smooth, then stir in the melted butter.
The whole-wheat crepe batter is split, part of it colored with cocoa and piped into small animal faces with a squeeze bottle, then covered with the plain batter and cooked. Keeping the batter at the right consistency and timing each layer is what keeps the characters crisp and symmetrical — but kids sit down to breakfast far more eagerly once they see the faces on their plate.
Whisk the whole wheat flour, milk, eggs and salt until smooth, then stir in the melted butter.
Set aside a small portion of the batter, mix it with the cocoa and fill a squeeze bottle with it.
Pipe small animal faces onto the hot pan with the cocoa batter and let them set for a few seconds.
Pour the plain batter over it in a thin layer and cook, flipping until both sides are done.
Strain the cocoa batter before loading it into the squeeze bottle, or the nozzle will clog. Do not wait more than about 20 seconds before pouring the plain batter over the drawn faces, or the lines will blur into each other. Allergens: contains wheat (gluten), egg and dairy.
If the cocoa batter is too thick the lines come out raised and crack while cooking; just thin it with a few drops of milk.

Kakaolu hamuru ilk denememde çok sulu yaptım, çizgiler birbirine karıştı; ikinci seferde bir yemek kaşığı daha un ekleyince yüzler net çıktı. Çocuğum tabağındaki ayı suratını görünce kahvaltıyı hiç sorun çıkarmadan bitirdi.
