A traditional Vietnamese baby food, cháo is made by simmering rice in plenty of water for a long time until the grains dissolve, then stirring in poached chicken breast. Its smooth texture makes it a gentle option for babies starting solid food.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Soak the rice

30 min

Soak the rinsed rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.

2

Simmer

25 min

Put the rice in a pot with 4 cups of water and simmer over low heat, stirring often, for 25 minutes until the grains break down.

3

Add chicken and carrot

5 min

Add the shredded chicken breast and grated carrot and cook for another 5 minutes.

4

Blend and serve

3 min

Blend the porridge to a consistency suited to your baby's age before serving.

Reminder

Always test the temperature before serving to your baby. Do not add salt or sugar before the age of one.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

Soaking the rice in water for 30 minutes before cooking shortens the simmering time and gives a smoother porridge.
