A refreshing vegetable drink made by boiling ripe tomatoes and straining them, balanced with salt and spices. It is preferred at breakfast tables or as an invigorating mid-morning drink.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Boil the tomatoes

5 min

Cut a cross on the stem end of the tomatoes and blanch in boiling water for 30 seconds, then transfer to ice water to peel the skins easily.

2

Blend

3 min

Put the peeled tomatoes with half a cup of water into a blender and blend until smooth.

3

Strain and season

5 min

Strain the mixture through a fine strainer to separate the skin and seed pieces; add salt and lemon juice and stir.

4

Cool and serve

20 min

Chill the tomato juice in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes and serve with a pinch of red pepper flakes on top.

Reminder

Important: To peel the tomatoes easily, blanch them in boiling water for a few seconds first, then transfer to ice water. Adjust the salt amount to your taste; unlike store-bought canned tomato juice, the salt ratio can be fully controlled at home.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

Adding a pinch of red pepper flakes and a few drops of lemon juice to tomato juice noticeably livens up the flavor.
