Prepare the apple
5 minPeel the apple, remove the core, and cut into small cubes.
A single-ingredient, sugar-free and salt-free apple puree for babies just starting solids. This easily digestible, soft puree is a practical starter food that can be safely offered from the sixth month onward.
Peel the apple, remove the core, and cut into small cubes.
Cook the apple pieces in a steamer, or with a little water and the lid closed, until soft enough to mash easily with a fork. This takes about ten minutes.
Mash the cooked apple with a fork or puree it in a blender. Adjust the consistency by adding warm boiled water according to your baby's stage, and serve warm.
Important: Do not add salt or sugar to baby food; the apple's natural sweetness is enough. When introducing a new food, follow the three-day rule and watch for any signs of allergy. Consult your pediatrician about your baby's diet. Serve the puree fresh; store it in a covered container in the fridge for no more than twenty-four hours.
Steaming the apple preserves more vitamins than boiling it in water. Adjust the consistency to your baby's stage; keep it runny for beginners and thicker as they progress.
