Made for 8-month-old babies, carrot is steamed and blended with apple into a naturally sweet puree rich in vitamin C and beta-carotene. Steaming, compared to boiling, keeps more of the vitamins intact.

Step by Step

How to make it?

1

Steam the carrots

20 min

Slice the carrots thinly and place them in a steamer basket, then steam over boiling water for 20 minutes.

2

Add the apple

15 min

Add the chopped apple to the steamer with the carrots and cook together for another 15 minutes until soft.

3

Blend smooth

5 min

Blend the cooked carrot and apple until smooth, adding a spoonful or two of the steaming water if needed.

Reminder

Carrots contain nitrates, so keep portions limited to a few times a week for babies under 8 months. Store the puree for up to 2 days in the fridge, or 1 month in the freezer.

Editor's Note Editörün Notu

Swapping the apple for pear gives a milder flavour and shortens cooking by about 5 minutes. Slicing the carrots very thin can also cut the total time.
